Varekai's Icarus

For my Boyfriend's Birthday. I surprised him with another Icarus gift! I printed a picture of Icarus out and cut him all out. Then created a trim around him and a bunch of poles. It was quite funny because I was going to go to Michaels and blow like 30 bucks on sticks. I went over to my Boyfriends house where his family had sparklers! They burned about 220 of them. As we were done and picking them up, I was going to throw them away and thought. Sticks, For Josh's Birthday! A wonderful idea! I painted countless numbers of hot pink sticks to gold and hot glued them all around Icarus. The way I created the tree like effect around the trim or frame, I dumped a bunch of gorilla wood glue all over and let it dry and foam up over night. The mediums is mostly cereal box and acrylic paints. Foam project board for the base. The base got really warped when I painted it. But it still does look nice and no one even notices it.
  I forgot to mention I installed a light fixture on the inside of back behind the frame at the top. So everything can light up on the inside. I just thought it was the most perfect idea I ever thought up! But I can't leave it on for too long or it will start to burn everything. His father said I could get a LED light for it instead. We'll see.
